Re: The smart ant's and flea's

Excellent work Lincoln. Looking forward to trying one of these with the little OrangeRx R614XN (which is a similar size). My standard set-up using a pair of digital servo boards is probably about the same in terms of PCB area but the need to splice multiple leads to get Vcc & Gnd to both boards ...

*Sigh* If only Mark would make a DSM version for those of us already wedded to Spectrum TXs...

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT, Kinnettic Disassembly, Cilit BANG

Those are the ones I used for the Spin Twins. Lovely little motors but be careful not to run them stalled - the wires are rather thin!
(watch from about 1:14:24 of the AWS 61 YouTube vid for more details!)

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT , Cilit BANG, Kinnettic Disassembly

If Rolex made Antweights... Certainly a thing of beauty. Now you just need to get some driving practice. Sounds extreme but if you don't have a full size enclosed arena, might be worth making a second weapon of the same weight/dimensions but without teeth - just a smooth ring. That way you can safel...

Re: Team Ions build diary

Personally I wouldn't risk buying cheap imported/unbranded LiPOs, even if they were shippable. Too much of a potential fire hazard. AFAIK, Hobbyking are now only doing the 2S 180mah nano-tech (standard power pack inside a large proportion of UK ants) with a funny little 2-pin Molex 'E-Flite' (?) dis...

Re: AWS 61 - Wolverton, Milton Keynes - 15th March 2020

OMG - just watched the video (thanks Harry!) Had no idea that Recycler got the award for "Most Destructive Robot" - Anthony will be absolutely over the moon. Unfortunately we had to leave early to catch a train, so we weren't around to receive the certificate. Any chance someone can send i...

Team Antiquarian & Anthony's Ant Army AWS61 Report - Part II

Luckily Anthony had a much better day than me, in terms of victories, though frustratingly he still didn't quite make it through to the final 16. Recycler Our best robot by far, Recycler came to AWS61 with a new drum, sporting a thinner profile and much sharper teeth. First fight, against 'No1. Best...

Team Antiquarian & Anthony's Ant Army - AWS61 Report Part I

Well that was a blast! First up, in case anyone was worried about Anthony's persistent coughing on Sunday, it wasn't Corona virus; just the after effects of a night in an overheated Travelodge (due to Sunday train timetables, a stop-over in MK was our only chance of getting to Wolverton in time). He...

Re: AWS 61 - Wolverton, Milton Keynes - 15th March 2020

Yay for everyone who made it. Impressive turnout, despite the plague. Sorry we weren't able to stick around and watch the final rounds & awards but with Sunday train timetables it was always going to be a long journey home. Utterly exhausted (and elbows mysteriously bruised) - but great fun was ...

Re: AWS 61 - Wolverton, Milton Keynes - 15th March 2020

For sanitary reasons, we might have to agree an alternative etiquette to the customary handshake after each fight. Maybe a martial-arts style bow - or a gentle Tx bump.
