Re: AWS 37- Reading- 17th March 2012
Thanks to everyone for making AWS37 such an enjoyable day, in particular Will for the great organisation and everyone who organised the venue & arena etc. Was nice to meet up with those that I met at Bristol last time and also the guys that couldn't make it to the last event. Spyro was much more...

Looks fantastic! Looking forward to seeing the finished bots and also seeing them all in action again.

Re: New Roboteer!
cool thanks Jim, I guess I'll just experiment and see what gives the best results once I have something resembling a chassis. This'll be for the second of two robots if I get a chance to build it before the AWS.....running out of time!!!

Re: New Roboteer!
I'm running them off a 6V nimh, I'm assuming that's what the PWM pulses from the servo boards are too. Thanks Peter, that makes sense, I've ordered a couple of 540rpm ones as well to have a play around with as for the moment I'll be sticking with 6V. Hopefully will have at least one new ant by AWS37.

Re: New Roboteer!
Thanks Dave, yes they're the cheap ones from ebay. Having said that the motors could well be going 300RPM and I'm just used to the speed of speed hacked servos so I don't want to do the motors an injustice if they are in fact performing to spec. Looking at my servo driven ant, it seems to move at ab...

Re: New Roboteer!
I don't know if someone could offer some advice, but I've just been testing a couple of 300rpm 9g gearmotors from China driven by 9g servo boards off 6V nimh, and without creating a chassis to mount them on they appear to be running slower than I expected. Just wondering what you guys' experience is...

Re: Clank - our first Antweight!
That's a very impressive first ant! I use the TGY90s in my ants and you should have no problems with it. I also vouch for the DVD case spline as the hinge as Joey mentioned. I Look forward to seeing it at AWS37.

Re: New Robot with Weapon!
Looks great! The MG90s or Turnigy TGY90S are dimensionally the same as your flipper servo and they have metal gears plus a little more power (I think) so that is an option if you find the flipper struggling, though I imagine that servo will be ok for a front mounted flipper. For the two flippers I h...

Re: Removing the plastic from the end of single cell lipos
Hi Andrew, are you talking about the nanotech lipos? I asked a similar question in the bottom couple of posts in my thread here: http://www.robotwars101.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1743&start=75 There used to be loads on ebay but looking on there now there only seem to be a few suppliers, ...

Wow, that is looking scary! Does Variant run upside down? Don't think I've ever seen it upside down....none of the fights last long enough! Is this the cricket grip rubber you mentioned?
