No mods needed at all.
There is no potentiometer.
These are really a purpose made small 2 way ESC.

Note that if you run 2S - 8.4 volts and an Rx that can only handle 6 volts, you will need to regulate a power source for the Rx.
I tend to use Rx that is rated to 10 volts, so no problem.

I have used the JST connectors for motors, and cut away the outer plastic shield around the pins on the plug. This "depolarises" (is this a word?) them to allow easily changing motor polarity.

Perhaps try running 3S (3 x 1S in series) on the slower motors, if your ESCs can handle it? Alternatively, you could remove the final gear cluster from an N20 gearbox to make the output shaft into an idler, for a non powered wheel. A tip I figured out, when removing/desoldering multiple header pins ..
Carefully prise the plastic pin holder off first, then desolder and remove the pins individually.

Yes, those are capacitors that come with the DasMikro, in the picture.
The N20 motors don't really seem to need them.
You will have to acquire the resistors separately if you want to use them for braking.
