Re: Some questions about building an Antweight

I can confirm that the dasmikro doesn't have a receiver built in, you will need a separate one (the lemonrx is good). As for polycarbonate, i wouldn't recommend hot forming, it's very easy to overheat it which causes it to be very brittle when it cools. As Pete said up to 1.5mm can be bent cold, and...

Re: Hello! And some questions

Hi Jeff, welcome to antweights. Pete's covered most of it, but I will definitely second the idea of getting to an event to see how it's all done. With regards to multiple robots you don't need multiple drivers. In the tournament group stages a teams robots are in separate groups, so it's not an issu...

Re: Aws’ for 2018

Well I don't think I'd be able to make June 2nd, but I'm certainly not important enough to arrange it around. For the record the other weekends in June or at the end of May would be fine.

Re: Transmitters

I would recommend the Devo 7e, it's good for dsm2 and dsmx, and has a memory for up to 30 robots. You will need to upload the 3rd party deviation firmware to get it to work, but that's simple and there are plenty of guides online. They can be found for about £40.

Re: Spinning Disc Motors?

The dys be1806, and the redcon 2204 are the most commonly used spinner motors, they both have holes for easy mounting of the blade. As for wiring, brushless motors require a dedicated brushless esc, I can recommend the Afro 12A, but there are loads on the market. The 3 wires from the motor attach to...

Re: How do, folks.

Hi, welcome to the world of antweights! For a first robot I would probably recommend going for either 4wd without any other weapon, or 2wd if you want to have a flipper. While a 4wd robot with a flipper/self-righter has been done many times, it adds complexity and can make things tight on the weight...

Re: Help with first antweight

Hi, welcome to Antweights. The transmitter and motors certainly look good. The battery is a very good option, but you may want to look at the smaller/lighter 180mAh version, (the downside being I can only find it as a 5 pack currently?) - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-180mah-2s-25-40...

It's been ages since I last did any ant building but I've finally got the weapon finished for Valkyrie, my new drum spinner... https://i.imgur.com/9AbZZUGl.jpg It's a lump of 7075-T6 aluminium with high tensile M3 bolts for the teeth, and the holes either end mounting onto a pair of small brushless ...

Exeter sounds good to me. Although if Pete can't make it you might have to find an arena somehow.

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

That spinner looks good. Regarding the question about cluster weight limits, it's in the rules, but could be a bit clearer. If only part of a cluster is a walker the weight bonus is applied only to the walking part. The allowed weight of the walker can be calculated by subtracting the weight of the ...
