Re: Ant Freeze 7 - 1st Feb 2020 - Hinckley, Leicestershire - Sign up now!
I've signed up for this on AntLog and am looking forward to it! I'm pretty confident I'll have my robot working by then :) What facilities are available in the pits? E.g. are there enough mains sockets for everyone, or do you all have to fight over them, or do people tend to bring battery-powered to...

Re: Little help requested with a new bot - receiver, material sourcing etc. thanks.
I don't know anything about sourcing titanium so can't help you there. I have bought small amounts of brass, aluminium, and stainless steel off eBay and haven't had any problems, but I am also not generally picky about the grade and wouldn't know how to check it anyway. Regarding receivers: I'm most...

Re: jes's build log
Haven't printed any more parts yet, but this is the latest CAD: https://img.jes.xxx/2494 I don't think I'll have space/weight for the retractable horns idea, so I've put a step in the wedge so that robots can slide part of the way up the front and then get caught on the step so that they can be push...

Re: Team 1202 build Diary
I estimate the weight of 3D prints by looking at the "Print Summary" shown in slic3r after generating G-Code. After the G-Code has finished, a box pops up at bottom right that says something like "Used Filament: 1029.53cm (24.76cm^3)". I assume other slicers have a similar output...

Looks amazing. Is that PLA?
And have you weighed it?

Re: jes's build log
Ah, if cable ties are good enough to use for the real motor mount then I might be able to save a bunch of weight. I'm not married to the idea of using identical chassis halves, so I could have a lower half that the motor cable-ties to, and an upper half that is just hollow inside. Worth considering....

Re: jes's build log
wheel guards are a bit of a double-edged sword, because a 4wd pusher can lose more drive from one jammed wheel than from one missing wheel This is an interesting point! I had assumed that wheelguards were a no-brainer, might have to rethink that. Also... watch out for flat/square sides. It's quite ...

jes's build log
Thought I'd try and document the build of my first antweight. I'm going for a 4wd wedge pusher, and part of the plan is that it should work upside down just as well as it does rightway up, with a switch on the controller to invert the drive direction. I spent some time in FreeCAD last night and came...

Re: AWS'60 Results Analysis
I had already watched & enjoyed AWS58 before I had the idea of trying to do stats on the results, just for fun :) I did watch AWS59 and wrote down the results: https://img.jes.xxx/2489 Doesn't look like there's that much correlation with AWS60 so probably not much conclusion can be drawn here. I...
