I'm probably wrong about the motors. i thought the ESC limited voltage to them. i also didn't know you could make them turn by connecting a battery directly - i thought they had to be pulsed via an ESC to work?
i dunno about the batteries or servo.. I've got the same servo, so I'm interested too!

Re: 'Harder Than It Looks' Build
It does all look okay. Nice looking soldering. You said you tested the battery on one of the motors first.. the motors can only take 6v, but the batterys are 8v, so you maaay have broken one of the motors by doing that? Which one stopped working? If it's shorted out, it may explain the smoking. I'm ...

Re: Another noob bot
not much progress, other than attaching the bits to a cassette case (4" wide!) instead of flappy cardboard. me and my son have began tests on the Lego companion, tho.. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4753/25192985927_c9c93ba920_z.jpg despite my bot being able to push it while it was stationary, ...

Re: Another noob bot
Soo.. putting it all together wasn't without issues. Binding the receiver was easy, but when I attached the motors, they didn't seem to be going in the right directions. It was really difficult to tell what they were doing when they were just sitting there, so I sellotaped it all together mainly jus...

I'm liking the look of that! Sounds a little pricier.. is it going to be a one-off house robot/ref bot for teacher to control?

Batteries charged!! :D https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4711/28238131409_95cf6cac6c_z.jpg (cripes, my phone camera is a bit smudged!) So, that wasn't too scary. What's all the fuss about? Tonights plan is to plug everything together and, if nothing melts, get the tx/rx working. Time to research FlySky...

Thanks for the answers!
I had a feeling amps were okay, but i get a bit paranoid when lipos are involved. I've read too many warnings!

Re: Another noob bot
I thought it was you, but despite my son having watched it half a dozen times on iplayer, I've only seen that sequence once, so I couldn't remember. It was certainly eye opening! I've ran into my first quandary.. I bought a Turnigy 12v 2-3S Basic Balance Charger , and I thought I had a PSU to...
