Re: There's something wrong with my electronics...

I do use 0.5mm aluminium in a composite with thin carbon fibre for non-critical panels - I've never really had good results with bending, though, so I tend to drill and tap blocks of thicker aluminium or HDPE at right angles to mount it. M2 bolts work quite well in my experience :)

Re: Advice for a newbie please

Welcome to the world of antweights :) I second Gary's reccommendation of Spektrum's DSM2/X, both for ease of compatibility with a standard solution such as the NanoTwo kits , or 'Roryboards', made by Rory Mangles of these forums (should you decide to take a saner option at some point!) and also beca...

Re: 20th August 2016 - The Oxford Games, Carterton

Dave has successfully got hold of me, apologies, it's been a busy week :) Full details have been added (i.e. everything as it was mostly aside from the date). I'm using the original signup page for now as I think everyone who was coming to the original date is coming to the new one; if there's more ...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

Aside from using a less effective blade (!) all I can think of is using a more standardised, almost scientific approach - an example I've seen before is what Dale Heatherington did in the States (about halfway down) with a gravity fed test rig and a static spinner rather than a robot. Since the impa...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

I think you could probably lose grams out of the side armour with little effect - you can also (from experience) get away with a 120mah battery should you need to. Looking very nice :3

Re: AWS 50- Date TBC- Camberley, Surrey

Anything would be good - the later in the month the better, probably, but any of them'd work :)

Re: June 4 2016 - The Oxford Games, Carterton

For the avoidance of doubt (and because I've just had confirmation) the event is not happening on the originally scheduled date of 4th June. I've amended the first post to reflect this. If it goes ahead, it's now looking like the end of July at the earliest (pending some phone calls being made) - m...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

So... I have machined my 4mm carbon fibre into the side plates, and I'm getting the impression there is a bit of glass fibre inside the mix. The fibres were deffinatly White in the centre, luckily I didn't pay for it and it was off cuts from a massive octorotor I machined for a friend, but still......
