Re: Antweight World Series 62 - Midsomer Norton - November 20th 2021

I also assume toys will have to comply to the easily accessible switch ruling as well. this is tentatively the weekend I am moving and I'll only be 40m away from the venue. Even if I can't commit to the competition I may stick my head in to say hello - provided I'd be okay to do this. I'm double jab...

Re: Harry Makes Ants

https://i.imgur.com/25JLZug.jpg Finished off the pincher. The chassis now has a little more clearance and is fractionally wider to better guard the wheels. It has a cut out to gently cup the switch and the charge point too, though I may rejig these in future but it all squeezes in for now. https://...

Re: Crusher, why not?

Are the bands to preload the claw and give it more downforce? Neat idea - I thought about doing the same with springs on mine but I still have to stop the disintegration of the drive gears first.

Looks like it drives really well with something grabbed and the front off the ground too!

Re: Team Astro Build Log (Cheese bots)

Looking like a great set of improvements - experience of mine is you cannot be too aggressive with your weapon mounting, the further out you stick it the more you're going to hit! Honestly the only thing I could really say about the whole bot is I'm not too much of a fan of the blunt tooth profile a...

https://i.imgur.com/lx5OQfY.jpg Mean and green it's pretty much done now! I have decided to name it Johnny Mnematic (in reference to the excellent 1994 slice of cyberpunk schlock "Johnny Mnemonic" where Keanu Reeves plays a USB stick, Henry Rollins is a computer expert slash doctor and Ic...

Looking much stronger already!

Only thing I can think to say is try and fold over the edges on the lifter plate. This makes it harder for spinners to catch and pull the panel off.

Re: After lurking on here for almost a decade, I've finally built something

I'm so happy to see you make something! I expect a second and third will be following on quickly - they're addictive once you're over the hurdle. I would second most of the comments made so far, all good stuff. Even a material that is less desirable like PLA can still be decently used. I would make ...

Re: Harry Makes Ants

Okay with the addition of a single washer and a decent amount of anti seize grease (perhaps not the best choice but it was in reach) I have cured the retract sticking - touch wood. The only downside is a small amount of copper grease getting smeared out the ram from time to time. Cracking the ram op...
