Re: Introducing ProtoBot!

Does anyone remember using steel scrapers at school to clean up the edges of acrylic cuts? I do a similar thing nowadays using fairly blunt stanley blades.

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

I don't think the tubing I've ordered is pure aluminium, it's an alloy. I have some normal aluminium sheeting and that's as soft as butter to some tin snips.

I did try to find some titanium tubing the right size but didn't have any luck. It's also really expensive.

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

Thanks. Indeed it will be a drum spinner. I've just ordered the right aluminium tubing I hope. I've got a set of bearings for the non-motor side of the tube along with a 13mm diameter brushless motor and 6A ESC for it. Also got some spare JST power connectors so it's easy to remove from the rest of ...

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

New tyre moulds have done their job :D. I also finally got the mix of silicone to catalyst right (really difficult in such small quantities). Sadly I can't move onto the weapon this weekend cos the aluminium tubing I order has the wrong wall thickness, ordered 1mm but they sent 1.5mm :(. http://i.im...

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

The Fabrikator mini is the best printer at its price point imo. The print area is small and doesn't have a easily removable print bed though. I've cut a square sheet of aluminium and printed some clips to create a removable bed. Someone on eBay sells a very nice heated bed if you wish to print other...

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

Been experimenting with creating wheels and tyres. I'm almost happy with the process for creating the tyres. Gonna try out one more mould design I think to try and remove the need to trim the sides of the tyres down.

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

Yeah that's not a problem, I need to re-wire it anyway to get the power switch in and extend the motor cables.

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

I attempted last night to get the transmitter up and running. Due to the lack of DSM2 Tx's floating around I've gone for a Devo 7E and flashed it with the Deviation firmware. I'm fairly new to modern Tx systems but I've managed to get it to bind. However it's constantly driving forward unless I real...

Knappster's monstrosities!

I've been collecting parts to build an antweight for some time now but I've only recently had time to sit down and implement something. I bought a Fabrikator mini 3D printer a little while back and set myself the task of designing a bot that could be printed on it's tiny print bed of 80x80x80mm. Thi...
