Re: New antweight weight allowance for AI antbots

first, this would be amazing and i would definitely be one of the first to make a AI ant. however, there are some holes in this plan like the definition of AI. most of my robots already have gyroscopes to correct for if the motors are out of balance. as this is all done internally in the robot you c...

Re: AutoBot

right, we finally put some time into fixing PlankBot the AutoBot prototype and designing AutoBot. new cpu on the board done all working, new motor driver chip, massive pain to solder because of the large pads on the bottom that mean we have to hot air solder it. which when only doing one chip in a r...

Best Motor for a spinner?

We just printed out a test for our new spinner, only to brake the motor, its been sitting on my desk for years so it wasn't in the best condition.
so now we need a new motor, but what is the best one to buy at the moment?

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

really missed out on aws 55, mostly because I've been busy with A levels and my free time was then used on making the AutoBot pcb then AutoBot. and as all my robots needed some kind of major rebuild after the last aws i went to, 53 i think, i was going to make new robots for the whole team, but yeah...

Re: Rule Debates

as i was not at aws 55 i did not see whatever robot caused these rules to be debated but, changing the rule for cluster bots contradicts the rule saying you can use 2 fleas as a ant-wight cluster bot as long as they fit in the 3 inch flea cube. i agree that expanding robots must start in the cube co...

Re: Antweight external power switch

hole in the frame is maybe not quite right as it would have to be a pretty big hole. first off ill say that i build using a 3D printer to make my robots and that i haven't built a spinner yet so don't know how spinners position their power links. so most of my robots have a missing side somewhere, u...

Re: Antweight external power switch

hi, and welcome. this rule is largely for safety of spinners, thus if you are making a flipper, simply using the battery connector that can be accessed with no tools will do. if you make a spinner it becomes a different matter, where it has to quickly turned off without going near the weapon. this i...

Re: The smart ant's and flea's

so, as auto-bot is currently broken, and i don't currently have the money to fix it. I've designed another new ant-wight in my free time around revision for exams. SA9 draft.min.png its kinda a cross between SA7(boxy looking walker with a flipper on the front) and SA5 (wheeled wedge flipper). which ...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

you can get pcbs made very cheaply from china using pcbway. the Autobot board, 100,75mm cost £50 for 10. and they actually gave us 13. i see why you have that size now, seems pretty compact for all the constraints, like the though hole connectors. have you tried using smd versions of the connectors ...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

why's it 31x30mm? what other chips are you using that makes it so large? i mean that is still pretty small but i made the smart-board 21x20mm and that has a lot of features. are you trying to use hand soldering? i find then all the chips are usually a bit larger. for example the auto-bot board would...
