Re: Rules suggestion (from committee post on the same)
I think the wording works in your case too, there's nothing in the reworded rule to constrain the orientation of the cube. i.e. If you have the cube outside the arena and the competitor demonstrates that the robots fit in that cube in a given orientation then that's the orientation they should be as...

Rules suggestion (from committee post on the same)
I was just reading http://robotwars101.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=60488 and have a suggestion for simpler and clearer wording. Razerdave's suggestion was: All expanding robots AND CLUSTERBOTS must start the match in the same configuration they fit into the cube. I'd suggest simplifying this to: All r...

Re: AWS56 - Bristol
Would it make sense to run the event and allow the competitors to choose whether they want to participate?

Re: 2i) Clusterbots
I disagree with the driver having to be self contained. I'm a team consisting of 1 roboteer. By that rule I can never fight a cluster bot. This is the point I argued last time this came up. By the self-contained driver logic, only teams with two or more drivers can enter clusters, which rules out m...

Re: 2i) Clusterbots
At the risk of deviating from the rule under debate, my biggest problem with clusterbots is that many (most?) do not comply with the following rule: 5h) All teams must be self-contained in terms of driver, transmitter, robots and battery packs, i.e. these cannot be shared with another team. This ru...

Re: Rule 2j - name labels (and typographical error with rule
I disagree. I think it should remain in force. I'm with Psychostorm on this one. As a frequent spectator but not-yet-competitor I would have very little idea of which robot was which at my first competition. Being able to read the robot names on the robots rather than repeatedly asking is very usef...

Re: Rule 3c - Arena Drop-off
3a) All battles must take place in a battle box, regardless of weapons being used in the battle. 4mm polycarbonate is the minimum recommended thickness. With no gaps greater than 2mm for safety. 3b) The arena will be a raised platform with an area of at least 35.4 inches (900mm) square. 3c) 20-30% ...

Re: Rule 3c - Arena Drop-off
Minimum of 25% of the perimeter would equate to two drop offs of 45cm on a minimum size 90cm x 90cm arena. Perhaps a minimum drop-off of 25% and a maximum of the current minimum, i.e. 50%?

Re: Rule 3b - Arena Size
Are there any examples of where an arena meeting the minimum requirement has posed a specific problem in a competition? If not it doesn't seem necessary to change the rule, since any competition can meet the regulation with a larger arena and the (ever increasing number of) competitors can pick and ...
